WHAT
Over the years various flavors of agile have taken a greater foothold as the development process de jour--which isn't necessarily bad. But it raises questions as to how best incorporate a formal design process within an agile development: still do upfront design work? when and where do designers do their work? how to avoid an endless agile journey? We'll explore the why of design, identify the core benefits of being agile and look at how design fits within agile development.

Kevin is an empathetic champion of the end user, involved in designing the behavior of digital products since 1995. He's worked on a projects for government, software companies and nationally recognized brands providing strategic direction and interaction design goodness. A passionate advocate for Interaction Design, Kevin launched IxDA local group in New Mexico and is on the IxDA Global Board of Directors (overseeing 80+ IxDA local groups worldwide). He's UX Designer at Tyler Technologies delivering the next generation of financial software for local governments and municipalities.

Started in 2007 by information architect Susan Doran, MaineUX was described as "People doing cool things on the web...in Maine." In practice MaineUX was an interdisciplinary multi-practice community of 150 people across Maine interested in UX .

With Susan Doran still at the helm, and joined by Kevin Silver and Ben Ho, Maine IxDA is the new MaineUX--but better! We're part of and contributing to a much bigger "Us" while keeping our local flavor. Like MaineUX, Maine IxDA brings together smart creative people from complementary professions who are designing creative, compelling, meaningful user experiences.
