If you are losing sleep on any of these questions this session will cure your insomnia. It is a highly interactive tutorial that looks at the application of Ajax from both theoretical and practical standpoints. Previous experience of Ajax is not essential.

Innovative Solutions for Card Sorting

* How can I get the most from the results?
* How is card sorting done in practice?
* Is there an quick and easy way to collect the data?
Card sorting can be very effective in navigation design but traditional approaches make it a daunting task, especially for the uninitiated. This workshop gives participants hands-on experience of several new techniques in the conduct and analysis of card sorting, in particular using bar codes for data capture and several innovative methods of analysis.
Biography: William Hudson consults, writes and teaches in the fields of user-centered design and usability. He has over 30 years experience in the development of interactive systems, initially with a background in software engineering. William has written and taught courses which have been presented to hundreds of software and web developers, designers and managers in the UK, N. America and Europe. He is the founder and principal consultant of Syntagm, a consultancy specializing in the design of interactive systems established in 1985. William has written numerous articles for the ACM's SIGCHI Bulletin and interactions magazine, some of which will be discussed during the event.
Cost: $350 if you register before 8/25/06; $400 subsequently. Full-time students can receive a 15% discount.
