we're now able to provide online. In this discussion, we'll explore what w
ireframes can still do, plus new forms of documenting including lo-fi anima
 tions and state diagrams.
\n
\nDan Saffer is a Senior Interaction Designer
at Adaptive Path (http://www.adaptivepath.com/). Dan's book, Designing for
Interaction, has been called a "fresh, accessible and thoughtful guide to i
nteraction design" (Richard Grefe, Executive Director, AIGA) and "a bookshe

SUMMARY:Information Architecture 3.0
LOCATION:New York, New York, USA
DESCRIPTION:As we venture beyond Web 2.0 and the undisciplined, unbalanced
quest for sexy Ajaxian interaction at the expense of usability, findability
, and accessibility, how do we reconcile the timeless principles of design
and organization with new transmedia models of interaction, co-creation, ta
 gging, and user participation?
\n
\nIn this advanced seminar, Peter Morvill
e draws upon stories, examples, case studies, and discussions to explore th
e future present of information architecture and user experience.
\n
\nTopi
 cs include:
\n
\n* Integrating product development, information architectur
e, and interaction design to create good experiences and sustainable value
(real Web 2.0 case studies that take the discussion beyond de.licio.us and
 Flickr platitudes).
\n
\n* Designing next-generation enterprise search syst
ems that combine best practices in taxonomies and tagging with search analy
tics, guided navigation, thesauri, clustering algorithms, and rich result i
 nterfaces.
\n
\n* Evaluating the multi-channel challenges and real-world op
portunities presented by ambient findability and the emerging Internet of o
 bjects.
\n
\nAbout Peter Morville
\nPeter Morville is widely recognized as
a founding father of information architecture. He co-authored (with Louis R
osenfeld) the best-selling book, Information Architecture for the World Wid
e Web, and has consulted with such organizations as Harvard, IBM, the Inter
national Monetary Fund, Microsoft, the National Cancer Institute, and Yahoo
!. Peter is president of Semantic Studios, co-founder and past president of
the Information Architecture Institute, and a faculty member at the Univer
sity of Michigan. His work has been featured in many publications including
Business Week, The Economist, Fortune, The Washington Post, and The Wall S
treet Journal. Peter's latest book, Ambient Findability, was published in 2

LOCATION:New York, New York, USA

the little things really do matter. Each encounter -- no matter how brief -
 - is a micro interaction which makes a deposit or withdrawal from our ratio

s adds up to how we feel about a particular product, brand or service. Litt
le things. Feelings. They influence our everyday behaviors more than we rea
 lize.
\n
\nSPEAKER
\nDavid Armano
\nVP Experience Design
\nCritical Mass
\

SUMMARY:IxDA NYC: "Tap is the New Click" by Dan Saffer
LOCATION:New York, New York, USA
DESCRIPTION:“Tap is the New Click”
\n
\nEven though the technology has bee
n around for decades, only now are we starting to see mass production and a
doption of touchscreen and gestural devices for the public. Jeff Han’s infl
uential 2006 TED demonstration of his multitouch system, followed by the la
unches of Nintendo’s Wii, Apple’s iPhone, and Microsoft Surface, have annou
nced a new era of interaction design, one where gestures in space and touch
es on a screen will be as prominent as pointing and clicking.
\n
\nBut how
do you create products for this new paradigm? While most of us know how to
design desktop and web applications, what do you need to know to design for
  interactive gestures?
\n
\nThis introduction to designing gestural interfa
ces will cover the basics: usability and ergonomics; a brief history of the
technology; some elemental patterns of use; prototyping and documenting; a
nd how to communicate that a gestural interface is present to users.
\n
\nW
 hen:
\n6:15 - 7:00 networking
\n7:00 - 8:00 presentation
\n8:00 - 8:30 Q&A
\nPlan to arrive by 6:45 p.m. to clear security and be seated
\n
\nWhere:
\
