SUMMARY:8 Guiding Principles for Prototyping
LOCATION:Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
DESCRIPTION:6PM - 8PM on Thursday, July 24, 2008
\nMessagefirst
\n230 N 2nd
  Street, Suite 2C
\nPhiladelphia, PA 19106
\n========
\nRSVP: phillychi@gma
 il.com
\n========
\n
\nAbout this Presentation
\nHave you ever wanted to in
troduce prototyping into your organization's design process but weren't sur
e of where to start? Or do you currently practice prototyping and need some
  fresh ideas?
\n
\nAt this month's PhillyCHI event, Todd Zaki Warfel will p
resent eight guiding principles for prototyping and will perform a hands-on
  demonstration of several techniques.
\n
\nAbout the Speaker
\nTodd Zaki Wa
rfel is a Principal and Founder of Messagefirst, a Philadelphia-based desig
n research consultancy, where he blends research and design to evolve produ
cts in innovative and beautiful ways. Todd is a dynamic speaker and storyte
ller by nature. He is an active speaker and member of a number of industry
communities and organizations, including the Information Architecture Insti
tute, Interaction Design Association and Usability Professionals' Associati
 on.
\n
\nTodd's clients have included Albertsons, AT&T Wireless, Bankrate,
Bank of America, Citi, Comcast, Cornell University, IntraLinks, The Hartfor
d, LA Times, Motorola, Palm and SBC.
\n
\nTodd currently lives in Philadelp
hia and blogs at toddwarfel.com. His upcoming book, Practical Prototyping:
A Practitioner's Guide to Prototyping from Rosenfeld Media, will take a han
ds-on approach, enabling you to develop prototypes with minimal muss and fu
ss. The book will discuss how prototypes are more than just a design tool b
y demonstrating how they can help you market a product, gain internal buy-i
n and test feasibility with your development team. It is anticipated to be
 available later this year.
\n
\nThose interested in obtaining a copy of Tod
d's upcoming book can learn more at
\nhttp://www.rosenfeldmedia.com/books/p

SUMMARY:PhillyCHI Event: Rapid Prototyping
LOCATION:Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
DESCRIPTION:WHEN: 8/21 6:00pm - 8:00pm
\nWHERE: Penn State Great Valley
\nC
 onference Center
\n30 E. Swedesford Road, Malvern, PA 19355
\nPhone: 610-6
 48-3200
\nRSVP:phillychi@gmail.com
\n
\n====
\nDeveloping applications in a
global, corporate environment can be particularly challenging considering
barriers to communication and agreement. Rapid prototyping using tools such
as Axure Pro can help bridge these gaps by providing a powerful way of col
lecting and refining requirements in a global, dispersed setting as well as
providing a practical UI framework for local or remote development teams.
It is also very helpful for determining project scope and setting client ex
pectations. The presentation will cover how to best harness prototyping too
ls and discuss best practices and tips for this type of prototyping.
\n
\nA
 bout the Speaker
\nRon McNamara has specialized in creating user friendly a
pplications in the complex environments of the biotechnology and pharmaceut
ical fields for the past seven years. He is a CUA (Certified Usability Anal
yst), has a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, and
a Masters in Information Systems from Drexel University. He was a scientif
ic and medical researcher before migrating to an IT career in 1998. One of
his areas of expertise is using prototyping tools to elicit requirements an
d design user interfaces. He currently works at GlaxoSmithKline as a projec
t manager and business analyst supporting research and clinical scientists.

\n
\nAbout the Sponsor
\nAt Penn State Great Valley, engineering and infor
mation science students are already professionals in their fields and work
at corporations including Lockheed Martin, Vanguard, Comcast, and Wyeth.
\n
